Feathers Flights Pattern Tour: Harem Pants Pattern Review and Giveaway!

Hi there!  I'm so excited to today's stop for the Feather's Flights two pattern tour.  Heather has just release two new boy pant/short patterns and offered me the opportunity to try them out.   Since we are smack dab in the middle of a luxurious vacation and an impending move, I've had limited sewing time, so I had to choose one over the other.  Not an easy task as they are equally adorable.  I went with the Harem Pants and Shorts pattern and I'm so happy I got a chance to sew these.

The Harem Pant and Shorts pattern  is a beginner's sewing pattern ranging from sizes 18m-4T and can be sew with either knit or woven fabrics.  The pattern comes in either a pant or shorts length which can easily be shortened to customize the fit for your little one.  They can be sewn either with or without a leg cuff and with or without the front, patch pockets.

I went with a stretch woven material that I've been saving for the perfect project.  I picked it up and put it down about three times before I decided to go with this black and yellow plaid.  I wasn't sure whether they would turn out looking like the kid was wearing a tablecloth.  I'm really glad I trusted my instincts because I love how they turned out. Just the skater vibe I was looking for.

This skater inspired pair was sewn using the 3T pattern with the shorts, pocket, and cuff options.  As you can see, they're a bit long for shorts, so the next time I'll be using Heather's shortening line to bring them up just a tad.  For where we live now, the length is perfect.  We rarely see temperatures above the 70 degree marks so short-shorts are hardly necessary. Plus the capri like length protects his little knees when he's trying to take his scooter down the ramps.

This guy is no longer (finally!) wearing a daytime diaper but if he were, I can attest to the fact that this comfortable short/pant has plenty of room for a diaper.  For this very active boy, they're just as comfortable in this woven material as they would be in a knit and I'm loving the fact that he'll get a lot of use out of them.

Considering the limited time put into these pants, (literally like 30 minutes and that was only because I had to finish my seams), the comfort factor and the adorableness, I can guarantee you this pattern is going to see a lot of use.

I'm so happy to welcome Heather to the boy sewing pattern world and thrilled to be able to test out one of her new patterns.  In my opinion, there can never be too many boy patterns.  The little guy loves his new pants and was doubly thrilled to be able to swing by our local skateboard park and hang like the big boys.

Fancy a chance to win the pattern for yourself? Giveaway ends at 12 am on July 13th.
