Have you ever had one of those projects that you are super excited about and then for whatever reason it gets pushed to the side and takes you forever to get back to? Well, this quilted sweatshirt was one of those projects. I'm calling this KCW Day 2 but in reality I finished quilting the fabric some time in January.
The problem was, I had started this project on a whim after seeing this on Pinterest. Because of my hasty start, didn't have the rib knit I needed for the neck, sleeve, and hem bindings. Nor did I think navy ribbing was going to be so hard to find.
After finding a complete lack of navy ribbed fabric in my local fabric shops, I started the on-line search. I seriously ordered three different "navy" ribbed knits before giving up. They were just not dark enough. Enter KCW. I decided I had to just finish this puppy up because a) this was not going to fit this kid if I kept waiting for the ribbed knit fairy to pay a visit and b) summer is right around the corner (ha, ha) and we'd be losing sweatshirt weather fast (hahahaha, a girl can dream can't she?). Right, so let's go with the first one.
So, yay! The monkey on my back is finally finished and I can enter the sewing room without it calling my name. Some how after all of this, I still managed to take a few photos along the way, so once the craziness of KCW passes, I'll be putting up the full tutorial.
Since all that needed to be sewn for this project yesterday was the neck and hem bindings, I was also able to sew up some Hosh pants and get the fabric for a coordinating tee painted. I'm super excited to show them off tomorrow after I've finished the shirt.
