September is here. It's a fact regardless of whether you're looking forward to cooler temps. and changing leaves or heading into the heat of summer. I realized, with last month's pattern, that my pool of sew along sewers is split down the middle. Of the Earth, that is. So I wanted to remind those following along to be brave in picking your fabrics. Many of the "Sewing For Boys" patterns are very versatile in terms of which fabrics can be used and if you are heading into summer and we're working on a pattern with a lining, the easiest way to alter the pattern would be to choose a light weight fabric and forgo the lining.
Okay, down off the soapbox and on to the pattern announcement. September's pattern will be . . .
According to the authors, this is a beginner pattern. Recommended fabrics are knits with at least 30% stretch but for those of you headed into warmer weather, I'd love to see it done in a stretch linen, seersucker or nylon. This is also a great pattern for refashioning!
On a side note, I've found myself without a prize sponsor this month. The shop that originally offered a prize has been unreachable. We've been so very lucky to have such an amazing array of shops to provide us with motivation. The generosity of the blogging/sewing world staggers me at times. Thanks again to all of those who've motivated us thus far. If YOU have a fabric, handmade item, or pattern shop and would be interested in sponsoring our sew along this month, please contact me via e-mail. Otherwise ladies, it looks like September's prize will be a handmade item from me. I hope that won't steer you away from sewing this month's pattern. If that's the case, what might you be interested in winning?
Happy sewing everyone!
