Books For Boys #10: Dragons Love Tacos

I'm working on digitizing the patterns I used to make the soft, ninja weapons and if all goes well, I will have those for you tomorrow. This is a big step for a lady like me who tends to do things by hand rather than trust the computer.  It's been a goal of mine to up-grade the pattern making department so keep your fingers crossed for me as software and I are not always friends.

Anyway, it's Thursday and that means . . . a new book.

This week we'd like to introduce you to "Dragons Love Tacos" written by Adam Rubin and illustrated by Daniel Salmieri.

I can't say I can quite pinpoint the appeal of this particular book but I think it has something to do with the dragons eating tacos.  That's hilarious you see because one wouldn't think of dragons loving to eat tacos.

And then throw in the twist that dragons are particular about what toppings can go on the tacos and that in no way, what-so-ever, can their be any spiciness to them.  Which is funny, you see, because dragons breathe fire.  Which is hot.

My boys are not big fans of tacos, they being anti-spice.  But they do appreciate the colorful dragon illustrations and the piles of tacos on each page.

What seals the deal for my guys is the chaos that ensues when the dragons are inadvertently fed spicy salsa.  This is when they break into all out guffawing which in turn leaves me laughing because really, maybe it's a guy thing, I'm just not getting why that's so funny.  I'll read it over and over again though, just to hear them giggle.

  1. I know these are books for boys, but my daughter has loved all of them! haha! I think she'll really love this one too! :)

  2. I need to get this book!!! we might be taco obsessed around here. like maybe we eat them at least 2 times a week. and now that i am pregnant again maybe i eat them even more than that. i just can't stop eating them!! confession, when I was pregnant the first time i ate tacos 8 times in 3 days. i would say it was shameful but really it was delicious :)

Question, comment? Got something to say? I want to hear from you!
