Superhero Bedroom

Being on vacation for the last month or so has given me plenty of time to start planning S's new "Big Boy" bedroom.  If you've been following my Pinterest activity, you probably already know what it is.

For those of you who use your time wisely and have yet to give into the wonderfully, creative "time vacuum" that is Pinterest . . .  we're going with a Superhero theme. Since S's favorite character changes from day to day, we're going to mix it up a bit.  I'm more of a comic superhero fan, (Not sure whether that makes me an old fogey or cool retro mom) so I'm hoping to give it an old school flare.

I wasn't thrilled by the Superhero bedding out there in consumer world and was surprised by the lack of  this theme on Etsy.  It didn't take me long to realize that I'd be making most of it.  With that said, I'm totally psyched about my quilt plan.  I'll write more about that in a future post.

Here's some of my favorites from my Superhero Bedroom pinning board:

Comic Book Bunting

Superhero Symbol Wall Art

Felt Pillows  for sale on Etsy.

Superman Mirror from Pinkapotamus

Retro Planet has the greatest metal signs.  I especially love this D.C. Comic set.  Definitely way out of my budget but cool just the same.

Since we won't actually be in our house for at least a week yet, and then it will be another few months until we see our worldly possessions, I'll continue mulling this theme over.  Feel free to join along or let me know if you'd like a Pinterest invite, especially if you have a superhero loving kid.

  2. Great super hero ideas. We've just hit a serious super hero obsession here and I am planning a super hero training academy party. This super hero round up has really helped me out, Thanks!

  3. I love these ideas. If only my little boy didn't have to share a room with my little girl. One of my goals this year is to decorate their room...not easy!

  5. Not a huge fan of superheros - yet!!!!
But the pictures at the bottom of the post could surely be made by buying placemat wooden shapes and old comics. Modpog the pictures on and add his name to each one in the corner and you have a groovy one off name board for the new room. An easy project to do on the road??
And a good excuse to visit second hand bookshops and op shops.

  6. Looks like it is going to be a fun room. Have you checked out the super hero room over at Iammommahearmeroar.com? It is pretty awesome and inspirational. It is difficult to find boy rooms, even on Pinterest. I have been planning a boy spaces event on my blog since the spring, but I just haven't been fully satisfied with the amount of ideas out there.

  7. Hi, I just dropped by via your post at Mod Podge Rocks. I so wish I'd had a bedroom like the one you're planning when I was a kid - you're boys are gonna love it!

The lack of Super Heroes on etsy is probably due to copyright issues. I know I'd love to do some super hero coasters (like I did for MPR) but I don't want Marvel or DC to knock on my door.....

But, in any case, these are terrific ideas and I'm enjoying your blog.
