Embellished Beverage Tub For Guys

Embellished Beverage Tub

Whether you're looking for a gift idea for Valentine's Day or Father's Day, any guy is going to love a giant tub filled with all the things he likes to much or sip upon.  This is a great last minute idea too since you can put it together in just a few hours.

embellished beverage tub

Supplies:  Galvanized Beverage Tub, foil paper sheet, Exacto knife, scissors

Print out or draw desired name, monogram, design and use and Exacto knife to create a stencil.  Tape your stencil where you want it to go.  Then use the foil adhesive to fill in the stencil.

Once your design is filled in, go ahead and remove the paper stencil.  Be VERY careful here because you do not want to smudge the design.  What you have here will be what shows up so go back over any spots where the glue did not stay.  If you have smudged glue, simply wipe it clean with a wet cue tip.

Let the adhesive dry until it is translucent.  Then lay the foil paper over the design.

Make sure you place the paper color side up.  The metal foil is actually on the underside of a clear sheet of plastic and will stay adhered to the glue once it's pulled away.

Rub over the design with your finger tips to make sure the foil is adhering to your design.  You may want to go over trouble spots with a credit card or other flat surface.  Just be careful not to squish the adhesive.

Now slowly peel back the paper to reveal your foil covered design.

When I say slowly, I do stress slowly.  Pulling back too fast may peel the glue right with the paper.  Trust me.  I know these things.

Ta da!  One manly, embellished beverage tub, ready to be filled with Dad's favorite bottles or cans.

I'll be continuing this post tomorrow with a fun scavenger hunt idea to keep Dad guessing. We'll be stashing some things around the house and yard to fill this fun tub with.

  1. I found you on Thrilling Thursday Linky Party. I didn’t join since I haven’t created anything but I had to check out the projects everyone else did. Creative people inspire me and this project is an example of why so I am now following you. I would never think to embellish something like this! I hope you will follow me back http://talesfrommyjournal.blogspot.com I can be found in facebook too http://www.facebook.com/DeniseMartin.LillaRose and twitter @DeniseLillaRose If you like/follow me there I will do the same for you. When you stop by my blog, please check out my kind of fashion (hair jewelry).

  2. HI! Just curious what kind of glue you used with this project? Thanks!

    1. Hi Ellie! The foil paper came with it's own transfer medium but if you can't find a kit, Martha Stewart has a transfer medium that should work.

Question, comment? Got something to say? I want to hear from you!
