Still mulling over what to get Dad this Father's Day? Here's an idea that you can put together in just a few hours.
Supplies: Galvanized Beverage Tub, foil paper sheet, Exacto knife, scissors
Print out or draw desired name, monogram, design and use and Exacto knife to create a stencil. Tape your stencil where you want it to go. Then use the foil adhesive to fill in the stencil.
Once your design is filled in, go ahead and remove the paper stencil. Be VERY careful here because you do not want to smudge the design. What you have here will be what shows up so go back over any spots where the glue did not stay. If you have smudged glue, simply wipe it clean with a wet cue tip.
Let the adhesive dry until it is translucent. Then lay the foil paper over the design.
Make sure you place the paper color side up. The metal foil is actually on the underside of a clear sheet of plastic and will stay adhered to the glue once it's pulled away.
Rub over the design with your finger tips to make sure the foil is adhering to your design. You may want to go over trouble spots with a credit card or other flat surface. Just be careful not to squish the adhesive.
Now slowly peel back the paper to reveal your foil covered design.
When I say slowly, I do stress slowly. Pulling back too fast may peel the glue right with the paper. Trust me. I know these things.
I'll be continuing this post tomorrow with a fun scavenger hunt idea to keep Dad guessing. AKA: Daddy saw the photos that Mommy forgot to remove from the camera before our trip this weekend. In order to make his Father's Day gift somewhat of a surprise, we'll be stashing some things to fill the tub with, around the house and yard.
