I should know better by now. I should know not to tackle new projects while my youngest is down during his miniscule naps, but I just couldn't help myself yesterday.
As silly as it seems, I'm super excited about an alphabet pencil case. The idea came about because C has become so interested in writing in the past few weeks. He always wants to know how to spell words but then gets stuck trying to remember how to make the letters.
I've been daydreaming about this idea, but apparently not enough because it's turned out--for now-- to be a disaster. The actual case just did not turn out as I'd envisioned.
1. The case is way, way too long and fat for a single opening.
2. Sewing the alphabet strip around the fabric as I'd imagined didn't work logistically (which an experienced sewer would have forseen, I'm sure).
So, it is time to take out the seam ripper and salvage what fabric I can.
I was all set and ready to have a tutorial for you today but it will have to wait until I get this right. The biggest bummer is, I'd taken the time to quilt the top of the case. Silly, ambitious me!
